Springfield-based O'Reilly Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: ORLY) recorded a 12.2% increase in first-quarter profits.
The auto parts retailer's net income was $604.2 million, compared with $538.5 million a year earlier, according to a news release. Diluted share earnings rose to 72 cents from 62 cents per share year over year.
"We are pleased to report a strong start to 2026, highlighted by an 8.1% increase in comparable store sales and a 16% increase in our first-quarter diluted earnings per share," O'Reilly Automotive CEO Brad Beckham said in the release. "Team O’Reilly delivered comparable store sales results exceeding our expectations in both professional and DIY, with double-digit growth in our professional business and mid-single digit growth in DIY."
Sales during the first quarter rose 10.2% to $4.6 billion from $4.1 billion a year earlier.
As of March 31, O'Reilly Automotive's assets were $16.9 billion. The company ended the quarter with 6,644 stores, according to the release.
ORLY shares were trading at $96.22 as of 8:32 a.m., compared with a 52-week range of $86.77 to $108.72 per share.
