The Trump administration announced that a group led by Oracle would license TikTok's algorithm in the United States in an effort to resolve security concerns regarding the app's ties to China.
Oracle and investment firm Silver Lake Partners are on board, and billionaires Rupert Murdoch and Michael Dell may also join in on the effort.
A senior White House official told The Associated Press that the federal government would not have a stake in the joint venture or a seat on its board.
