Arkansas Business columnist Robert Coon says the 1989 song, “I Want it All” by English rock legend Queen, does as good a job as any at getting to the root cause of our nation’s $17.4 trillion national debt – the insatiable and unabashed addiction we have to spending.
Pointing to a national debt that now equates to roughly $55,000 for every man, woman and child in this country, or roughly $152,000 per taxpayer, Coon we’ve actually convinced ourselves that we can have it all. U.S. debt increased by an astounding $2.8 billion each day in 2013.
Coon says wanting it all is no longer an option, and the change starts with making touch choices on Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security funding.
