Elizabeth Hughes said there are 139 elementary students enrolled at the school, named in honor of the founder of Chick-fil-A. Bubba Cathy, vice president of the restaurant chain and son of the late Truett Cathy, visited the school Nov. 19 for a dedication ceremony. In 2012, C of O added an upper school curriculum under the School of the Ozarks banner, and combined there are 230 K-12 students enrolled, Hughes said. Following the mission of the Christian liberal-arts college, Cathy Lower School students do not pay tuition but earn their education through age-appropriate chores. For instance, fifth and sixth graders clean the hallways, common areas and lunch tables, while the youngest students are responsible for keeping their own classroom spaces tidy. Hughes said the laboratory school employs 18 staff and faculty members. Hours: 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 501-6552. Web:
