Volt Credit Union converted a former restaurant at 2440 N. Kansas Expressway into a new branch. Volt moved Feb. 2 to the 3,500-square-foot building from 815 W. Tampa St. to increase visibility, according to company officials. Near the Kansas Expressway and Kearney Street intersection, Volt officials say they bought the building from the Charles A. Floyd Trust for $638,000 and spent roughly $750,000 in renovations. Ross Construction Group LLC was contractor for the renovation of a former Jimmy’s Egg and Pizza Inn, with Paragon Architecture LLC as architect, said Volt spokesperson Vicki Owens. Barbra Berrios is branch manager of the five-person staff, Owens said. Volt also operates a branch at its 2624 W. Republic Road headquarters. Led by CEO Loretta Roney, the full-service financial institution offers checking, savings, auto, home and business loans, credit cards and lines of credit.

Sol Ananda Fit LLC
Longtime yoga practitioner and registered nurse Sonya Frederick became a first-time business owner with the Dec. 19 opening of Sol Ananda Fit LLC. Startup costs were roughly $50,000 for Frederick and her husband Erik, who co-own the 1,500-square-foot fitness studio at 133 W. State Highway 174 in Republic. She said they signed a two-year lease for $1,500 a month with landlord Calvin Sowder. Sol Ananda offers a variety of classes, such as chair yoga, power yoga, vinyasa and total resistance exercises, taught by a staff of seven. The drop-in class rate is $15, a five-class pass is $65, and a $90 monthly membership allows unlimited classes, she said. Frederick, a 20-year licensed RN, said she’s taken yoga for three decades. She said her passion for the exercise grew after her family moved to Springfield nearly three years ago, which motivated her to open the studio.

Rove Coffee Roasting
Rove Coffee Roasting relocated Dec. 1, 2020, to Nixa from its downtown Springfield shop, which opened in October 2019. Owners Dustin and Katie Jackson also last year added friends Joe and Amy Shearrer to the ownership group, Dustin Jackson said. The shop at 928 W. Mount Vernon St., in Nixa’s Stonecrest Plaza, sells coffee beans for retail and wholesale. Jackson said the 2,200-square-foot space, nearly triple the previous location, allows room to focus on wholesale roasting and to grow in e-commerce. He said relocation and renovation costs were around $5,000, declining to disclose lease terms. The company chose last spring not to renew the lease of its coffee shop at Springfield-Branson National Airport, where it operated since 2012. Rove sells whole bean bags of coffee from Columbia, Guatemala, Mexico and other countries, starting at $14, via its website.
