Velo Fitness Spinning Center, an indoor cycling studio, opened for business April 7 at 1333 E. Montclair. Owner and certified Spinning instructor Matthew Speer (pictured) offers seven 40-minute classes throughout the day 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and 4-8 p.m. Class sizes range from one to nine participants. Speer said Spinning fitness programs, which began about 15 years ago, are increasing in popularity in the Midwest. Velo Fitness is a certified Spinning club by Mad Dogg Athletics Inc., owner of the Spinning copyright.
Metropolitan Employment and Rehabilitation Services Goodwill opened its second Springfield retail store April 10 at 2442 N. Bolivar Road. Manager Patti Thurston said the new store comprises 8,000 square feet. The store sells donated clothing and household goods to generate funding for vocational rehabilitation services provided by MERS Goodwill. It is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. MERS Goodwill also operates a store at 520 E. Battlefield Road.
Filter Service of Springfield Inc. moved Jan. 15 to 1934 S. Link Ave. The company provides air filter service for commercial customers including restaurant and grocery chains in Springfield and theaters in Branson, according to owner Ron Musgraves. It was previously located in Strafford and has been in business for seven years.
Great Southern Hispanic Banking Center opened April 8 at 723 N. Benton Ave. The banking center caters to Spanish speakers, said Kelly Polonus, director of corporate communications. There are four bilingual personnel at the Benton branch and 16 throughout the corporation. Great Southern Hispanic Banking Center lobby is open 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
