|quot|The movers are moving,|quot| says Tom Hornbuckle (pictured), Two Men and A Truck franchise owner. The company left its 2136 E. Pythian St., Ste. C, location in favor of 3,800 square feet around the corner in the Letsch Advertising building at 2025 E. Chestnut Expwy., Ste. B, according to Hornbuckle. The movers relocated Feb. 17. This is the company's 10th year in business here; he also has a Joplin operation. Hornbuckle said the Springfield office records more than 5,000 moves per year and services customers up to 600 miles from Springfield. There are 10 trucks and 30 employees in Springfield. Hornbuckle is leasing the space from Davis Properties, which acquired the Letsch building last year when Bud Letsch retired and sold Letsch Advertising.
American Detection Specialists Inc. moved Feb. 1 to 440 S. Cavalier Ave., Ste. A |amp| B, after serving customers since 1993 at 1431 S. Enterprise Ave. Owner and president Jim L. Morris said the move more than doubles his office size. The 3,900-square-foot space features an 800-square-foot showroom. The company sells and services electronic security systems, safety systems with fire and carbon monoxide monitoring, electric gates and covert cameras.
Haruno Japanese Sushi Bar, 3044 S. Fremont Ave., has added an evening cocktail and sake bar, called Haruno Next Door. The 3,000-square-foot space, which owner Young-Sun June paid $200,000 to renovate, opened Jan. 24. Manager MK Yi said there also is a private room now available. Haruno Next Door is open 4:30 p.m.-midnight.
Equitable Mortgage Corp. moved its headquarters Dec. 26 to 909 E. Republic Road in the Twin Oaks Shopping Center. Co-owner Tom Mullen said the firm has six offices throughout the Midwest and a total of 35 employees. Springfield's office has a staff of 12. Mullen, his brother Mike Mullen and Dave Olson own the company. The trio purchased 5,000 square feet of the recently completed $1.2 million two-story office building. The firm rented at 1730 E. Republic Road before moving.
