Shawnee, Kan.-based Tri-County Security opened an office July 17 at 1722 S. Glenstone Ave. Owned by Michelle Nickols and Joshua Hutchison, Tri-County Security provides security enforcement and private investigation services, including crowd control, law enforcement training and fingerprinting. The office also trains civilians in self-defense, pepper spray certification and gun handling. Nickols and Hutchison lease the 1,000-square-foot space from Glenstone Properties for undisclosed terms. Goodnight Communications LLC
Former Springfield News-Leader Advertising Director Marty Goodnight started Goodnight Communications LLC on June 16. Goodnight said he creates sales strategies for businesses and develops marketing and advertising plans to meet stated goals. Named director of the News-Leader Media Group’s ad division at age 32, Goodnight was one of the youngest advertising directors among Gannett Co. Inc. (NYSE: GCI) properties. The Kansas State University graduate also worked at the Kansas City Star before coming to Springfield. He is the sole owner and employee, and currently runs the business from his home office. Common Interest Thrift Store
Christian Associates of Table Rock Lake opened Common Interest Thrift Store on July 25 at 741 W. Center Circle in Nixa. Store Manager Jennifer Popowich said 20 percent of sales proceeds are shared by the Nixa Education Foundation and Least Of These Inc. Based in Kimberling City, Christian Associates provides domestic violence shelter, food pantry and day care services. Led by CEO Jeremy Storment, the nonprofit operates a thrift store in Branson West, which Popowich also manages. Christian Associates leases the 13,000-square-foot Nixa store from Rick Sterling for undisclosed terms. With 10 employees, the store sells such items as clothing, books and home appliances, and accepts donations. Hours: 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1–5 p.m. Sunday. Phone: (417) 725-3782.
