Open for Business: The Table

The Table
Sisters Sheri Perkins and Renee Textor achieved a collective dream with the Oct. 20 opening of The Table, a restaurant at a long-vacant flour mill site in north Springfield. Perkins said the 610 N. Prospect Ave. eatery is a casual-dining concept that employs 22 and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Startup costs landed at more than $2 million for the project, Perkins said. Grindstone Construction LLC was general contractor for the 4,200-square-foot restaurant designed by H Design Group LLC. At the site, a 13-story mill and adjoining silo building built in 1901 have been out of operation since the 1970s. The restaurant is perpendicular to National Avenue and faces Chestnut Expressway, butting up against the larger of the two buildings on the site. Perkins said the menu recipes are ones she and her sister have cooked their whole lives and are sharing with the public. The Table’s menu includes a breakfast burrito, Cajun chicken pasta, street tacos, a double smash burger, salmon and ribeye. Entree prices range $13-$32.

Murney Associates, Realtors
Two of the largest residential real estate firms in the Springfield area combined last month. Southwest Missouri Realty began the merger into Murney Associates, Realtors on Oct. 7 and completed the agreement on Oct. 10 for undisclosed terms, said Tonya Murfin, who led and owned Southwest Missouri Realty with fellow managing broker Shannon Todd. The Southwest Missouri Realty name has been dissolved with the move, said Murfin. Southwest Missouri Realty was founded in 2013, while Murney Associates, Realtors has been in business since 1997. Murfin said most of Southwest Missouri Realty’s 26 active licensed residential agents made the move with her and Todd to Murney Associates, Realtors. Noting life and business changes, Murfin said it was time for Southwest Missouri Realty to go in a different direction, adding Murney was the firm’s top choice. Murney Associates, Realtors ranked No. 1 on Springfield Business Journal’s 2025 list of the area’s largest residential real estate firms, reporting gross residential sales in 2024 of $1.4 billion.

Cardinal Biologicals Inc.
Cape Girardeau-based Cardinal Biologicals Inc., a producer of medical-grade biologics, opened a Springfield office on May 19. Cardinal Biologicals Inc. President and CEO Paul Pfeiffer said the office opened in the PJC Insurance Agency LLC building at 1801 W. Norton Road and has three full-time employees. A news release issued in October by the Missouri Department of Economic Development indicates that Cardinal Biologicals Inc. intends to invest over $2.7 million and create six jobs at three locations in Cape Girardeau, Springfield and Joplin. Pfeiffer estimated Cardinal Biologicals’ annual investment in Springfield at roughly $400,000, which covers payroll, equipment, supplies and charitable donations. He said Cardinal Biologicals operates in “the birth tissue procurement side of the biotechnology industry.” Patients at participating hospitals can choose to donate birth tissue after a successful delivery, and Cardinal Biologicals is able to produce amniotic membrane patches to help heal issues such as diabetic foot ulcers, he said.
