The Dress Downtown opened its doors for area brides-to-be on Feb. 13 at 417 Boonville Ave. Owner and sole employee Raven Haik Cotton leases the roughly 600-square-foot bridal boutique from Randy Alberhasky of The Alberhasky Law Firm PC for $450 per month. Cotton said The Dress Downtown sells new and recycled bridal wear in the store and online. Cotton will purchase previously worn wedding dresses and charge a listing fee and 30 percent commission on the sale, according to her Web site. Bohannon Auto Services
Husband-and-wife owners Darin and Kristi Bohannon purchased Andrew’s Custom Muffler & Brake at 1462 S. Enterprise Ave. on Dec. 16 and changed the name to Bohannon Auto Services. The couple leases the space from Petrol Properties Inc. for $2,100 per month. Bohannon Auto offers services for tires, brakes, engines, transmissions, batteries, air conditioning, suspensions and cooling systems. The shop employs five, and all mechanics are Automotive Service Excellence-certified, Kristi Bohannon said. Service costs include $25 for brake checks, $36 for tire rotation and balancing, $37 for diagnostic checks and $12 for Missouri vehicle inspections, she said. The Learning Tree
Destiny Zook opened The Learning Tree on Feb. 27 at 2263 E. Cherry St. Zook leases the 5,200-square-foot day care center from JamCor Inc. for an undisclosed amount. The Learning Tree employs three and offers child care services for infants to children up to 12 years old. Zook said 14 children currently are enrolled and the center is licensed for 60 through the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. The Learning Tree accepts foster children and state pay, said Zook, a co-trainer for foster parenting classes. Rates range from $100 to $180 per week based on the age of the child.
