The Bicycle Place LLC
David Hunsaker and Soledad Hunsaker opened The Bicycle Place LLC on Oct. 13 at 105 S. Ridgecrest Ave. in Nixa’s Crimson Plaza. Selling Raleigh and Litespeed bikes, David Hunsaker said the showroom has about 40 bicycles, mostly mountain bikes and road bikes, along with clothing, accessories and parts. He said bikes range from $330 to $3,900 and children’s bikes start at $150. Hunsaker, who left an accounting job with Guildmaster Inc. in July and is the store’s sole employee, purchased about $40,000 in inventory, and he said the $65,000 startup was partly funded by a U.S. Small Business Administration-backed loan through Justine Peteresen microlending in St. Louis. He sign a five-year lease for 1,430 square feet in Crimson Plaza for $1,500 a month with Warren Davis Properties. Hours: 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Phone: (417) 374-7003. Mostly Serious
Web development company Mostly Serious on Nov. 1 took over the former Tag Magazine office overlooking Jefferson Avenue and Walnut Street. Tag closed in May, and Mostly Serious moved a few blocks from Park Central Square to 334 E. Walnut St., Ste. B, following extensive renovations. Co-owner Jarad Johnson said after adding two employees this year, bringing the staff count to nine, the firm needed more space. Designed by Dake Wells Architecture, MSI Constructors removed walls for six offices to create an open workspace, he said, declining to disclose renovation costs. With specialties in software design, mobile applications and corporate branding, Johnson said the 5-year-old firm is following up its development of Community Foundation of the Ozarks’ CauseMomentum.org crowdfunding site with a Day of Giving project to roll out next year. It also recently completed FarmersParkSpringfield.com and AreaDieselService.com. Hours: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with flexible hours for staff. Phone: (417) 501-6552. RE-Hughes & Co. LLC
Elizabeth Hughes created RE-Hughes & Co. LLC on Oct. 2 as a vehicle to work as an author and publicist. Hughes has worked 10 years in public relations at College of the Ozarks, where she tendered her resignation as public relations director in September. Hughes said she’s working at the Point Lookout school through December and plans to focus full time on publishing children’s books and consulting with small businesses on public relations, marketing and events. Hughes recently released her first project, a children’s book called “Tom the Turkey’s Road to Freedom.” She’s secured sales channels online at Amazon.com and her website, as well as at ABC Books in Springfield. “Tom’s story will inspire readers and educate young people on what the Founding Fathers’ intentions were for our nation,” Hughes said. “At the end of the book are the complete transcripts of the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights.” Hours: by appointment. Phone: (417) 527-0399. Web: TomTheTurkeysRoadToFreedom.com
