Springfield Slider’s
Whisler’s hamburger shop changed its name to Springfield Slider’s on Feb. 21 about 10 months after the owners of a Carthage restaurant by the same name filed a trademark infringement lawsuit. Kathy Jeffries bought the Springfield burger joint from property owner and proprietor Joshua Butcher in 2014. Known for its smaller, old-fashioned hamburgers, Slider’s operates in 900-square-feet and with sidewalk seating at 208 W. McDaniel St. Organized under Kathy Management LLC, Jeffries said the restaurant also serves fries, soft drinks and shakes, with combos priced at $7.50-$10.50. Slider’s runs a special each day and employs six, she said. Hours: 11 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 11–1 a.m. Wednesday and 11–2 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Phone: (417) 864-5565.

Parakeet Pete’s Sky Deck
Combs Family Ventures LLC opened the Sky Deck at Branson Landing on April 8. Located on “Mount Branson” across Lake Taneycomo, the deck is accessible by zip line from Parakeet Pete’s Waterfront Zipline. Linda Peterson, the event and media manager at Parakeet Pete’s, said the Sky Deck offers 1,800 square feet of event space for weddings or corporate celebrations up to 150 people. In addition to private bookings, where a shuttle takes guests to the deck, weekly Zip and Sip events are held with live music and cocktails and soft drinks. Tickets cost $40-$75 per person, depending on the event. Combs Family Ventures also owns Branson Zipline and Parakeet Pete’s Steampunk Balloon and Waterfront Zipline. Peterson said Sky Deck has a staff of 10-15. She declined to disclose the startup costs. Hours: 10am-until the fun is done; open weekly. Phone: (417) 827-0061. Web: SkyDeckBranson.com

Theta Float Spa
Matt Blystone and Sean Garton opened Theta Float Spa on Feb. 1 at 1339 E. Montclair St. Blystone said the spa offers sensory deprivation therapy, which involves hour-long meditation sessions in a float pod. Theta Float Spa’s process is called sensory minimization and revitalization therapy, or SMART, and it aims to reduce stress and alleviate chronic pain, anxiety disorders, insomnia, addictions and assist in weight loss. The service runs around $50 per hour, with specials available. The first float is $40, and packages run up to $160 for four floats per month, according to the spa’s Facebook page. The spa operates in 1,000 square feet in the Montclair East center, but Blystone and Garton have signed a lease for another 1,000 square feet. Blystone, who declined to disclose startup costs and lease terms, said the spa employs three. Garton is a former owner of Benissimo Gelato and Sorbet, and Blystone studied at Missouri State University before starting the venture. Hours: 11:30 a.m.–7 p.m. daily. Phone: (417) 812-5135.
