Springfield Hot Glass Studio opened May 16 at 314 S. Campbell Ave. The business, which shares space with Springfield Glassworks, is owned and operated by Terry and Julie Bloodworth. With 26 years of experience in glassblowing at Silver Dollar City, Terry Bloodworth (pictured) offers demonstrations 7-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. He also offers glassblowing lessons. "(Springfield Hot Glass Studio) is a retail store, and I service about four dozen wholesale customers around the United States," said Bloodworth. The business offers original lines of art glass designed and created in the store. Springfield Hot Glass Studio is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
A new palliative care unit and therapy gym for Primrose Place Healthcare opened July 8 at 1115 E. Primrose St. The approximately $200,000 addition to the Primrose Place nursing home is a palliative care unit with four private rooms and a 600-square-foot expansion to the therapy gym. According to Leigh Davis, Primrose administrator, "We designed these rooms (in the palliative care unit) to be larger in size with private baths, and they're set up so we can accommodate the families who desire to stay in privacy."
Bockman Engineering relocated July 1 to 2015 W. Woodland. The business was located at 1820 W. Mt. Vernon for 10 years but moved to a temporary office at 1746 W. College St. six months ago when the building sold. Bockman Engineering now occupies 2,500 square feet on West Woodland. Bockman Engineering is a civil engineering firm owned by Gary Bockman.
Citizens National Bank opened its fourth location June 24 at 2960 E. Kearney St. The north-side branch features two full-time lenders, and drive-up banking and ATM services. CNB, founded in 1989, has $200 million in total assets. It employs 70 among four locations.
