Springfield Acai Bowl
Husband and wife Harlan and Lesly Johnson became owners on Jan. 1 of 3-year-old business Springfield Acai Bowl. The couple said they purchased the 230 E. Republic Road eatery from founders Guy and Teresa Keehner for undisclosed terms. A second Springfield Acai Bowl, which operated for a year at 1655 W. State Highway J in Ozark until its closure in August 2024, was not part of the deal. Johnson said she worked for the Keehners at the Ozark shop the entire time it was open, adding when the couple told her they wanted to sell the business, she and her husband were the first people they considered. The new business owners took over the lease of the roughly 2,000-square-foot space housing Springfield Acai Bowl, with lease terms undisclosed. The shopping center building is owned by the Rose Lee Haik Revocable Living Trust, according to Greene County assessor records. Menu items at the six-employee shop include acai bowls of various flavors, waffles and smoothies, with prices generally ranging $6-$13, she said.

Lindsay’s Kitchen
Bakery Lindsay’s Kitchen LLC, which was part of 14 Mill Market’s debut lineup in June 2023, exited Feb. 22 from the Nixa food hall to return to its home-based roots. Owner Lindsay Kirtlan said she wanted to get back to the heart of why she started the business out of her kitchen in 2021. Upon its launch, Lindsay’s Kitchen was a weekly vendor at Farmers Market of the Ozarks, where she sold cinnamon rolls, as well as mixes for brownies, muffins and pancakes. Aside from refocusing on making in-house mixes and baked goods, Kirtlan said she will return in March to the local farmers market in Farmers Park. At the market, she plans to sell made-from-scratch coffee syrups, such as vanilla, hazelnut and coconut, along with various food seasonings. Kirtlan said she also is looking to teach baking classes, adding she’s in discussions with Ozark food pantry Least of These Inc., among other possible class locations. Her space at 14 Mill Market is set to be filled in March by Keikeu LLC, according to Leo Kim, owner of the incoming pastry shop.

Hawk Western Wear
After starting in Bolivar as retail space in Hawk Fertilizer and Feed in 2020, Hawk Western Wear moved Sept. 22 to a nearby shop of its own at 2270 S. Springfield Ave., Ste. I. Bobbie Hawk said she and her husband, Sam, needed more space for its store inventory, which includes men’s, women’s and youth clothing, footwear, home decor and accessories, such as hats, jewelry, purses and wallets. With the move to Bolivar’s Railway Station shopping center, Hawk said the store tripled its showroom size to 3,000 square feet. She said relocation and renovation costs for the space formerly filled by Hibbets Sports were roughly $100,000, declining to disclose the couple’s one-year lease rate with DCBC LLC. Hawk said they originally sought to build a storefront – an action still in the long-term plans as land has been purchased – but decided on a move to existing space upon learning the former Hibbets space was available. Ariat, Cinch, Montana Silversmiths and Wrangler are some of the western apparel and accessory brands featured at the store.
