SKDT Daycare & BoardingAfter six years working out of their homes and in veterinarian offices,
Misti Fry and
Carrie Galvan on Oct. 13 moved SKDT Daycare & Boarding to 1938 E. Phelps St. Fry said the 10,000-square-foot building holds up to 45 dogs and provides a fenced area outdoors. Certified by the Council for Professional Dog Trainers, the business partners offer dog boarding and training with a team of eight instructors. Fry said kennel boarding is $25 per night and $35 with day care, while training sessions are $10 each. Training covers behavioral modification, such as anxiety, to preparations for dog shows, she said. Fry said SKDT, which stands for Sidekick Dog Training, invested $70,000 in the move, mostly to buy kennels and venting, and the funds are on loan from clients. SKDT signed a three-year lease with Patricia Johnston for $4,200 a month. Hours: 7:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and 4:30–7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8–10 a.m. Saturday and 5–8 p.m. Sunday. Brandon Dake and
Andrew Wells moved their 15-employee architecture firm Oct. 3 to 134 Park Central Square, Ste. 300. Dake Wells Architecture Inc. signed a five-year lease for the top floor of the 40,000-square-foot former Woolworth building owned by Scott Tillman, who Dake said spent a year renovating before construction infill for the architects. “It’s a big, beefy concrete building,” Dake said. “Our space is the most unique. It’s more like a warehouse; it’s kind of raw.” Tillman’s property management office is on the second floor, Dake said, and the ground level storefront is vacant. The firm previously leased from Tillman at Walnut Street and Campbell Avenue, a space designed for 13 staff members. The 7,800-square-foot Woolworth office holds up to 32 staff members. Dake said the company spent $19.23 per square foot, or nearly $150,000, in relocation costs and pays $8.46 per square foot in rent. Hours: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 831-9904.
