Salt & Light Pilates LLC
Taking on her first business ownership venture, Linda Moore opened Salt & Light Pilates LLC on Aug. 19 in Chesterfield Village. At 2134 W. Chesterfield Blvd., the 475-square-foot studio provides small-group classes and private individual appointments. Moore is the lone employee at the studio, which trains in low-impact flexibility, muscular strength and endurance movements. She said she fell in love with Pilates after taking her first class in Colorado more than five years ago. That resulted in her getting trained and certified as an instructor. Moore has taught in various studios, most recently with Dynamic Body LLC and Achieving Your Best LLC, before deciding to start her own business. She signed a one-year lease for an undisclosed rate with Dearborn Development Inc. for the space previously occupied by The Village Yarnery LLC. Moore said startup costs were around $30,000.

Douglas, Haun & Heidemann PC
After more than a century in one location in Bolivar, law firm Douglas, Haun & Heidemann PC moved Aug. 12 just down the street to 103 E. Broadway St. Owned by Verna Haun, Craig Heidemann, Patrick Douglas and Donald Brown, the firm was located at 111 W. Broadway St. for 107 years. Ruth Medley, firm administrator, said the 29-employee firm is on a five-year lease for an undisclosed rate with Bolivar First National Building LLC, adding Douglas is the managing member for the lessor. The move to the former First National Bank building on the town square was partly spurred by a six-year personal restoration project Douglas undertook after buying it in 2013. He said he invested over $1 million in the building renovation, with Springfield-based Jack Ball & Associates Architects PC as the project designer. The law office occupies 5,570 square feet in the building, which is registered with the National Park Service. Douglas’ great-grandfather T.H. Douglas founded the firm in 1912.
