Salon Service Group Inc.Salon Service Group Inc. moved its headquarters and wholesale distribution center, including a retail storefront, Jan. 12 to 1520 E. Evergreen St. The 57,000-square-foot building cost an estimated $3.6 million to construct. Founded by
Gino Barbo in 1987, Salon Service Group distributes professional hair care products across 11 states, primarily to licensed cosmetologists. Barbo said the company employs over 225 across 30 stores, with about 60 employees in Springfield working with such brands as Paul Mitchell, Keratin Complex, Keune and Kevin Murphy. Last month, Barbo and company bought ABCO Salon & Spa Services in Texas. The moves are part of the firm’s $4.5 million capital expansion. Salon Service Group officials have said the relocation was delayed by a May acquisition of Texas-based Next Step Salon Consultants Ltd., which grew the building footprint by roughly 12,000 square feet. Providing operations oversight in the new facility is Vice President Shane Hanson. Salon Service Group continues to operate a storefront at 900 E. Battlefield Road, Ste. 172.
