Salon Knot
After nine years in operation, Salon Knot LLC has a new owner, as Sydney Hebert purchased the business March 1 at 424 Redbud St. in Rogersville from Jenni Farley for an undisclosed price. Hebert, who began working for the full-service hair salon in 2018, said Farley approached her last year about buying the venture. “I thought she had lost her rocker. She was serious,” Hebert said, noting she felt compelled to take over the salon as a first-time ownership venture and continue serving the community where she lives. Services at the four-employee Salon Knot include haircuts, coloring, blowouts, extensions, facials, massages and spray tans. The 2,000-square-foot shop also has dedicated boutique space for several local vendors such as Purple Diamondz and Olga Town Creations, Hebert said, declining to disclose rental rates. Products sold include clothes, mugs and jewelry. Hebert said she has a one-year lease for an undisclosed rate with Barry Retchloff and his wife, Kim.

Mimi’s Soulfood
After a successful trial period selling food from a family member’s restaurant, Tonisha Manier opened Mimi’s Soulfood LLC on June 8. The eatery at 533 S. Kimbrough Ave. is a first-time ownership venture for Manier and her husband, Octavius, who also is the cook at the four-employee shop. Tonisha Manier said startup costs were $30,000 and the couple signed a two-year lease for an undisclosed rate with landlord Nehal Kemal for the 2,100-square-foot space formerly occupied by Yan’s Chinese Restaurant, which shuttered last year. Manier, who grew up with the nickname of “Mimi,” said she’s worked 10 years in the food service industry, including past management roles at KFC, Fazoli’s and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. She began selling soul food such as Cajun catfish, pepper steak, brown beans, succotash and cornbread for around six months at Carriage House Family Restaurant, which is owned by her brother, Tonish Fewell Jr. Mimi’s menu offers daily specials including meatloaf, smothered pork chops and Salisbury steak. Prices range $8-$18.

Gym Depot
Entrepreneur Noah Alldredge started a new venture in the health and fitness field with the March 1 opening of Gym Depot. The business at 1359 E. Trafficway St. sells new and used commercial fitness equipment and flooring, such as rubber, turf and carpet, used in gymnasiums. Alldredge said startup costs were $50,000 but declined to disclose lease terms. He said the two-employee company fills 8,000 square feet in space formerly occupied by screen printing company Menzies Flock Shop Inc., which shuttered. Aside from Gym Depot, Alldredge said he owns Hydration Health Products, which sells dietary supplements. Alldredge formerly co-owned Fitness ER LLC, which repairs, installs and sells used and refurbished commercial fitness equipment. However, he sold his 50% stake of the company for an undisclosed price earlier this year to former business partner Logan Wendt, who is now sole owner. Last year, Alldredge sold another fitness-related business, BigTime Results LLC, to Austin Ruesink, Craig McCoy and Cameron Jones.
