The Clinic at Walmart
CoxHealth opened The Clinic at Walmart on June 13 inside the Walmart Supercenter at 2825 N. Kansas Expressway. Amy Lea, executive director of the clinic, said the clinic offers basic health care services, such as checkups and sports physicals. The 250-square-foot facility is the fifth location of The Clinic at Walmart operated by CoxHealth. Lea said there are 45 nurse practitioners among all CoxHealth clinics. Sports physicals and flu shots are $25, while other basic health care services range between $65 and $75, Lea said. Hours: 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Sunday. Lush Desserts
Debra Yeager and Julie Alexander opened Lush Desserts on March 17. The wholesale catering service specializes in alcohol-infused cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cookies and pies. Having catered events for the Heart of the Ozarks Sertoma Club, the duo had long been interested in starting a dessert catering company and were drawn to the uncommon business concept. Operating from their homes, Yeager said the most popular items are margarita cupcakes, amaretto white chocolate cake and Guinness brownies. Yeager said nonalcoholic versions are available for nearly every menu item. Mini cupcakes are $15 per dozen, while regular cupcakes by the dozen and full-size cakes are $30, Yeager said. Yeager and Alexander offer free delivery in Springfield locations and are pursuing a partnership for placement with Harter House. Phone: (417) 818-8582.
