Ozark Mountain E-Bikes
Nov. 1 was opening day for Ozark Mountain E-Bikes LLC at 2145 W. Republic Road in the Republic Plaza shopping center. Business owner John Terrell said he noted an absence of other shops dedicated to e-bikes in Springfield, adding he was ready to launch his first ownership venture after previously working with his friend, Chad Davis, at Totally Rad E-Bikes LLC. Terrell’s work at Totally Rad, which moved last year to Ozark from Branson, was preceded by several years of employment at A&B Cycle. Terrell said startup costs were around $35,000, declining to disclose his five-year lease rate with property owner Republic Plaza RCM Properties LLC. Ozark Mountain E-Bikes sells Velotric and Aima brands, Terrell said, noting he also has expertise in numerous other electric bikes. All sales include two-year warranties and lifetime free adjustments. The 1,500-square-foot shop also offers e-bike service, including tune-ups, electronic diagnostics and overhauls. Service packages range $90-$250, according to the store’s website.

Mercy Springfield Communities
At the Queen City’s border with Ozark, Mercy Springfield Communities has opened its new $32 million emergency department. The 17,256-square-foot facility, located at 3050 E. River Bluff Drive in Ozark and attached to Mercy’s orthopedic hospital along U.S. Highway 65, became accessible to patients on Nov. 18. Mercy Springfield Communities President John Myers said the emergency department was built in response to the needs of the Springfield area. St. Louis-based McCarthy Building Cos. Inc. served as general contractor for the emergency department designed by project architect Rees Associates Inc., of Oklahoma City, and landscape architect Olsson Inc. At the new facility, which is open 24/7, Mercy estimates it will have 16,500 patient visits annually, with an average of 1,500 visits per room. The facility has 11 beds, including seven standard treatment rooms, a trauma room and an isolation room, as well as dedicated imaging, a lab, pharmacy, public safety and other resources.

Motorcars International
Motorcars International LLC, a Springfield-based luxury and exotic car business in operation for nearly 50 years, relocated Oct. 1 to a facility at 2841 E. Industrial Drive. Jim Montgomery, who has been a co-owner of the business since 2016, noted the building spans 20,000 square feet and can hold up to 50 vehicles for viewing. He declined to disclose the purchase price for the property. He said the company previously operated at 555 S. Cavalier Ave. that was less than 50% the size of its current facility. Montgomery said roughly 150 attended Motorcars International’s Nov. 20 open house for the new building. The company employs eight, he said. Additionally, Montgomery said he is set to take on full ownership of the business at the end of this month from founder Bob Cann, declining to disclose financial terms of the deal. Motorcars International was founded in 1979, according to its website. Its current online inventory includes a 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350.
