Open for Business: Other Mothers

Other Mothers moved April 1 to 2694 S. Glenstone Ave. in the Brentwood Center. Other Mothers is a resale and exchange store for maternity and children's clothing, as well as baby furniture and accessories. Joe and Linda Audas (pictured) started the store in 1986 at 2369 E. Kearney St., where it still operates a second location. Joe Audas said the business outgrew its space at 1400 S. Glenstone about two years ago. "We've moved to a much bigger store," he said, with a showroom that's 1,000 square feet larger. It is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. With the move, Audas said, Other Mothers will enter the new crib market.

C&H Greenhouse in Republic opened a retail outlet at 3858 S. State Highway PP. Owner Cheri Hamilton sold plants, vegetables and other greenery wholesale for seven years prior to going retail April 5. Hamilton said there are 2,000 hanging baskets, 6,500 potted plants and 6,000 bedding plants available at the greenhouse, which is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.

More Time Outdoors Inc. moved April 3 to 3036 S. Fremont Ave., the former location of Organization Etc. More Time Outdoors opened for business July 2002 in Galloway Village and relocated due to a higher traffic count on Fremont, according to Michelle Paquin, who co-owns the business with her husband Travis Paquin. The store carries used mountain bikes, kayaks, canoes, backpacks, tents, sleeping bags and camping accessories. It also buys, sells and trades new and used outdoor gear. Hours of operation are 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday.

Shake's Frozen Custard opened Jan. 27 at 710 W. Mt. Vernon St. in Nixa. Shake's is a franchise started by Don and Debbie Osborne in Joplin in 1991 that now has about 50 stores in nine states. Michael Leake is the franchise owner in Nixa. Nixa manager Carlie Williams said the store is open 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon-11 p.m. Sunday.
