Nettie Marie’s Homemade Ice Cream Nettie Marie’s Homemade Ice Cream opened March 15 in the Keeter Center at College of the Ozarks. Public Relations Director Elizabeth Hughes said the dessert parlor has a vintage design with a copper ceiling, a wooden oak counter and soda jerk uniforms for employees. The college creamery serves 12 flavors including two vanillas and strawberry sorbet, along with caramel custard, Oreo mint, black cow, blueberry basil and the popular bobcat crunch, Hughes said. She said nine students operate the parlor; five on the culinary side, and four to run the counter. The ice cream, processed with milk from the campus dairy operation, sells for $3 for one scoop and $5 for two scoops. Hours: 10:30 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m.–2 p.m. Sunday. Fat Tony’s Soup, Salad and Sandwich’s LLC Tony Fewell opened Fat Tony’s Soup, Salad and Sandwich’s LLC on April 25 at 940 S. National Ave. after working nearly 15 years in management and cooking positions at Einstein Bros. Bagels, Olive Garden and Ocean Zen. The 1,500-square-foot building seats 45 customers, offering such dishes as chicken flatbread pizzas, Reuben sandwiches, meatball subs, hummus and veggie wraps, along with breakfast all day. Fewell signed a two-year lease with landlord Wicks-Wise LLC. He financed the $70,000 startup largely with personal savings. Upstream Inc. Branson’s Brett family May 4 launched entertainment production company Upstream Inc. As parent company for the family’s own entertainment brand, The Bretts, Upstream serves as a booking agency and consultant for musical performances and songwriting, said Marketing Director Josh Hall. Created to enhance the quality of family entertainment, Hall said Upstream also provides an educational arm with artist boot camps and later through book publishing. Currently, Upstream works with The Bretts and P13, a new pop group based in Branson, also involving Brett family members.
