The Runaway
Branson Mountain Adventure LLC opened its first attraction, The Runaway, on Aug. 12 at 935 State Highway 165 in Branson. Designed and built by New York-based Aquatic Development Group Inc., the $5 million Runaway is a 4,900-foot long mountain coaster that follows the natural slope of hills adjacent to Fall Creek. The coaster pushes riders up the hill from the cart station, and the ride down, which includes a pair of 360-degree horizontal loops, is powered only by gravity – with brakes for riders and electronic sensors to prevent crashes. Project Manager
Matt Meadows said cart speeds reach 30 miles per hour during the roughly 7-minute ride. The fee for drivers, he said, is $15 and passengers are $10. The attraction has 40 coaster carts and a gift shop. Meadows said Branson Mountain Adventure employs 25 and currently is hiring.
