History Museum on the Square
Following a five-year, more than $12 million renovation, History Museum on the Square opened Aug. 8 at 157 Park Central Square. Executive Director John Sellars said nine are employed at the museum, which comprises 18,360 square feet on three floors, including an adjacent building. Among the six permanent galleries, he said, are features of Route 66, the “Wild Bill” Hickok shootout on the square and local stories during the Civil War. In 2008, museum officials bought the now 104-year-old former Barth’s Clothing Store building for $800,000 via donations. Renovations began in 2014. With general contractor work by Kenmar Construction Inc. and designs by Casey Architecture, the project included rebuilding windows and the sign atop the building, adding a mezzanine and digging an elevator shaft in the basement. Admission is $16 for adults, $13 for seniors, students and military members, and $10 for children ages 4-12.

Lash Co. Studios LLC
After three years at 1353 E. Montclair St., Lash Co. Studios LLC moved June 11 to 1111 E. Republic Road, Ste. 120, in the Gallery Eleven shopping center. Owned by Jenn Lilley and her husband Greg, the 2,200-square-foot salon employs eight and offers eyelash extensions, sugaring hair removal, spray tanning, microblading, Botox and dermal fillers. Jenn Lilley said she originally started offering lash services as a home-based operation before opening a brick-and-mortar studio in May 2016. In 2017, she added The Cactus Lilley Boutique to sell women’s clothing and accessories as clients waited on their lash appointments. A need for more space precipitated the move this year, and she signed a three-year lease for $3,350 per month with John Haik and Gallery Eleven LLC. Lilley said relocation costs were roughly $40,000.

Team Taco LLC
Co-owners Cary Harris, Doug Riddle, Brent Sonnemaker and Daniel Stern launched Team Taco LLC on Aug. 6 at 1454 E. Cherry St. in the Rountree neighborhood. In the former home of Elle’s Patisserie, the menu features $3.50 tacos, such as the grilled chicken Redbird and vegetarian Groundskeeper, along with an $8 nacho plate and $10 rice bowl. Team Taco also includes an agave-centered spirit and cocktail menu. In June 2018, the 400-square-foot building transferred to Cherry Street United LLC, organized by Robert Sonnemaker, from the Joyce A. Feldman Trust. Elle Feldman closed Elle’s Patisserie in January 2018 and listed the property for sale at $200,000. Team Taco’s startup costs were not disclosed by Riddle. With his wife Carrie, Robert Sonnemaker formerly owned Social on Patton, for which Riddle served as beverage manager and Stern was executive chef. Social, at 314 S. Patton Ave., closed this summer.
