GoCleen LLC
Matthew Murphy opened GoCleen LLC out of his Springfield home on March 4, specializing in solid-surface cleaning and restoration of floors or walls. Murphy said the cleaning process involves high pressure with extreme heat and extraction. He is certified by The Master’s Touch Inc. as a factory-trained technician in advanced multisurface cleaning.

Murphy invested $30,000 to start GoCleen after identifying a need for hard-surface cleaning while working 10 years in the restaurant industry. He has refinished the floors at Mingles Café locations in the Springfield Livestock Marketing Center and in Miller. Hours: By appointment. Phone: (417) 655-2503.

Skinny Slims
Louis Castillo opened English-style pub Skinny Slims on Jan. 28 at 323 S. Patton Ave. The 50-seat pub offers $3 and $4 beers, and a food menu will launch in April, said Castillo, noting he has five years of bartending and management experience at Riad’s and Boomer’s Campus Bar and Restaurant. Skinny Slims has a guest bartender every Wednesday, and happy hour is 4–7 p.m. Monday through Friday, Castillo said. Skinny Slims subleases the building with Frock, a custom bridal gown store at 325 S. Patton Ave., from Kimbrough Corners LLC for an undisclosed amount. Hours: 4 p.m.–1:30 a.m., Monday through Saturday. Phone: (417) 987-0146.

Andy’s Frozen Custard
Andy’s Frozen Custard reopened its 3147 E. Sunshine St. store March 4 after it shut down due to an Oct. 19 fire. A short in the neon wiring caused the fire, said President Andy Kuntz.

In the renovation, completed for an undisclosed cost, crews moved the wiring outside the building and enclosed it, Kuntz said. Square footage grew to 1,200 square feet from 900 square feet to house its 15 employees, and the ceilings were raised by 3 feet. Electric and plumbing upgrades also were performed, Kuntz said, noting that the Sunshine store was the company’s first location in Springfield. Hours: 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m.–11:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Phone: (417) 881-2820.
