Vince Pentecost on Aug. 2 opened RyMac’s Rub n’ Pub at 107 Park Central Square, the former location of The Flying Tomato and Trolley’s. The 5,200-square-foot restaurant, pub and game room is run by 30 employees. MacDonald managed Trolley’s for 10 years and owned it for two years before transitioning to The Flying Tomato, which he and Pentecost have moved to Ozark, in the former Paolo’s Pasta and Grill owned by Pentecost. The Rub n’ Pub’s startup cost was around $5,000, MacDonald said. The walls are decorated with T-shirts from friends, Missouri State University sports teams and MacDonald’s personal collection. “It’s all about how I cook at home – a lot of rubs and a lot of sauces,” MacDonald said of the name. “It’s just a local hangout, a place to relax a little bit. Chappell, who has nine years of teaching experience, including a stint at Central High School, said Kumon’s main points of focus are math and reading with an emphasis on creating independent learning. She said monthly tuition is $125 per subject with a $125 deposit for a student’s yearlong commitment.
