Site development and highway contractor company Emery Sapp & Sons Inc. on Nov. 1 opened a 7,000-square-foot office and 10,000-square-foot shop at 5350 E. State Highway AA. Dave Roling, vice president and Springfield division manager, said the facilities cost about $1 million to build and allow ESS to operate at one location. The firm had operated from a 3,600-square-foot office and temporary spaces at 621 W. Prince Lane that were established when it acquired Kennedy Contracting in January 2008. ESS employs more than 450 throughout offices in Springfield, Kansas City and Columbia, and Roling said the Springfield division peaked this year with 100 employees. Love’s was founded when Tom and Judy Love opened a small gas station in 1964 in western Oklahoma, which led to the first Love’s Country Store opening in 1972, according to its Web site.
