Inspired by her own wedding and the 54-year marriage of her grandparents, Madeline McKinley became a first-time business owner with the Dec. 7 opening of Elizabeth Elwood Bridal LLC at 101 N. Clay St. in Marshfield. McKinley said she is the lone employee of the bridal boutique, whose moniker comes from the middle names of her grandparents. She declined to disclose startup costs or lease terms with C R Realty Inc. The shop occupies roughly 700 square feet, McKinley said, noting in March she added suits and tuxedos for rental and purchase in an adjacent room within the building. She said dresses at the shop are all off the rack, with around 200 in stock, ranging in sizes 2-30. Prices range $100-$2,200, McKinley said, adding the majority cost less than $1,000. A layaway program also is available. A registered nurse since 2017, McKinley said she exited work at Mercy last year to focus full time on the new venture while on maternity leave after the birth of her second child.

LimeBank
Bolivar-based LimeBank is under new ownership after Steele Acquisition Inc., an investment group with members from three states, closed April 30 on the purchase. The deal’s closure comes after the group previously sought regulatory approval for the acquisition of Stark Bancshares Inc., LimeBank’s parent company. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. However, Steele Acquisition issued a Jan. 8 notice to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission pointing to a $12.5 million private placement, with the “proceeds to be used as merger consideration.” Under its new ownership, LimeBank officials are seeking a name change to Grand Missouri Bank. The change requires regulatory approval, according to a spokesperson, who declined to estimate a timeline. LimeBank’s main branch is at 1630 S. Killingsworth Ave. in Bolivar, but it also has a second Bolivar location as well as branches in Pittsburg and Wheatland, according to its website. As of Dec. 31, LimeBank had $124.4 million in assets, according to Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. data.

The Submarina
Three years after debuting sandwich shop The Submarina LLC in the Table Rock Lake area, its owners expanded the venture to their hometown of Republic on May 15. The 389 U.S. Highway 60 East shop is co-owned by Republic native Keri Bruton and Shelly Huff. Huff is the mother-in-law of Bruton’s sister. The women’s first eatery opened in May 2022 in Shell Knob. The Submarina serves submarine sandwiches with around a dozen signature creations – several of which have names with nods to lake life, among them The Captain, The Dock and The Dinghy, the latter of which includes toasted chopped chicken, bacon and pepper-jack cheese and is topped with lettuce and buttermilk ranch. Additionally, custom sandwich orders are taken at the restaurant, whose menu also includes nachos, salads and desserts, along with catering services. Prices range $6.50-$15.25. Bruton said startup costs for the 2,500-square-foot, 16-employee Republic location were around $80,000, but she declined to disclose the three-year lease rate with landlord Victor Paulik.
