Ali Smith in June opened The LightSmith as the regional dealership for Solatube International’s daylighting systems. Currently run out of their home, Ali Smith said renovations are under way for a 1,100-square-foot showroom and office at 1650 St. Louis St. to open in December. The LightSmith offers the sale and installation of Solatube daylighting and solar-powered attic fans. The daylighting systems, which Smith said can be installed in about two hours, allow for natural sunlight to be passed from the roof to the interior of the home. Including installation, rates start at $675 and increase based on the length of the tube to run from roof to ceiling, Smith said.
