Decorating Den Interiors
As it reached 30 years in operation this year, a franchise location of Decorating Den Interiors moved July 1 to 380 E. Highway CC, Ste. E101, in Nixa. Nola Shivers, director of design and owner of the business with husband Pat, said she wanted a fresh space for her interior design business, which employs seven. The new studio fills 1,500 square feet in Washington Center, and the couple signed a three-year lease for an undisclosed rate with D-Man Construction LLC. She declined to disclose relocation and renovation costs. The firm offers full-service interior design in the client’s home or office. Additional services include paint consultations and space planning. Decorating Den Interiors has direct access to manufacturers of furniture, window treatments, lighting, flooring, accessories and bedding. In 1995, the Shivers opened the Nixa-based franchise, which serves the Springfield area. The studio was previously located at 1310 Kelly Ave.

La Roux Bistro
North-side eatery La Roux Bistro launched July 21 at 300 E. Commercial St. It is the latest C-Street dining venture from restaurateur Joe Gidman, who co-owns La Roux with Rodrigo Cabrejos and building owner Joe Hosmer. Gidman also is co-owner of Peruvian restaurant Cafe Cusco with Cabrejos and Van Gogh’s Eeterie, featuring food from the Netherlands. Startup costs were around $375,000, Gidman said, declining to disclose lease terms. He describes La Roux as a fusion of French cooking and New Orleans/Creole cuisine, with a touch of the Ozarks. The 4,600-square-foot restaurant has three levels: an airy street-level bar, a light-filled space a few steps below the surface and a cellar level – with stone walls and recessed lighting – underneath it all. Its menu includes fried green tomatoes, alligator bites, entrees such as eggplant Napoleon and crawfish etouffee, sandwiches and a variety of wines and cocktails. Gidman said the 16-employee staff includes chefs Stephen Snyder and Peter Tinson as well as manager Whitney Burlison.
