Dan Kinney Family Center
The $5.2 million, 35,279-square-foot Dan Kinney Family Center opened Jan. 12 on the premises of Dan Kinney Park, 2701 S. Blackman Road. The two-level facility features a full-size gymnasium, an indoor track, weightlifting and aerobic fitness rooms, and rooms for two hours of supervised childcare. Facility coordinator Audra Schupbach said the center also offers a community room with a kitchen and seating for 40 people designed to host business meetings or family functions. Annual membership costs range from $120 for youth to $380 for a family, with rates for college students, corporate members and seniors. Nonmembers can use the facility for a daily fee per service. Hood-Rich Inc. designed the building to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-Silver certification, and general contractor Branco Enterprises Inc. built the structure. The Springfield-Greene County Park Board is in a long-term lease with City Utilities for the park land. Funding was raised by the county parks sales tax and bonding arrangements with the county. Hours: 10 a.m.–10 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.–8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday. Phone (417) 891-1500. Web: ParkBoard.org/dkfc

Sorella’s Table LLC
Husband and wife Doug and Mary Guccione on Jan. 18 started Sorella’s Table LLC, exclusively serving six-course meals in rented space at 322 S. Campbell Ave. Under the unique restaurant concept, the Gucciones open for business four weekend evenings each month and charge $40 per person for reserved parties up to eight with a set menu each weekend. Building on the Italian family theme – sorella is loosely translated as sister in Italian – Mary Guccione said Sorella’s Table is designed to bring together friends and family for an extended evening around the dining table. They were introduced to the concept this summer in Philadelphia, she said, and invested a minimal $4,000 in startup purchases of dishes and furniture. The Gucciones have about 10 years of experience running Guccione’s Italian Cafe in Joplin until 1999. With the new concept, the couple can maintain their day jobs – Mary as director of marketing and communications for TF Forming Systems and Doug as a sales representative for U.S. Foods. Hours: seating begins at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday the first and third weekends of each month. Phone: (417) 812-0355. Web: SorellasTable.com

Home Asset Security LLC
Patrice Tice started Home Asset Security LLC on Oct. 1 after seeing first-hand how important it is for household assets to be itemized for insurance purposes. Tice and her family lost a lake house to fire in April 2011 and had to deal with the experience of trying to piece things together without a photographic record of the family’s possessions. With Home Asset Security, Tice said the cost of having a home inventoried varies, but she offers a basic $250 package to photograph every item in a home. Tice, who is the lone employee operating out of her Springfield home, worked for 15 years in real estate, most recently at Springfield-based Meridian Title Co. Hours: by appointment. Phone: (417) 827-4177.
