CVS MinuteClinic
CVS Health’s (NYSE: CVS) medical walk-in clinic division Nov. 10 opened the second of four planned retail clinics by year’s end in Springfield. The MinuteClinic concept inside CVS at 1153 E. Elm St. targets the Missouri State University student population and the underinsured, officials said. The first in Springfield opened at the 2715 E. Battlefield Road store, and plans call for new clinics Nov. 18 at 3045 W. Republic Road and in December at 1220 E. Republic Road. Nurse practitioners specialize in family health care and can diagnose, treat and write prescriptions for common illnesses. Other treatments include minor wounds, abrasions and joint sprains, and common vaccinations. The costs for most services start in the $80 to $100 range. “We don’t want to replace the primary care physician model. We don’t want to be the only care the patient receives,” said Natalie Lickteig, MinuteClinic’s practice manager for Missouri. “We really try to be the support system to the medical home they already have in place.”  Lickteig said the company so far has hired nine providers. Hours: 8:30 a.m.–7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Sunday. Phone: (866) 389-2727. Web: MinuteClinic.com

Lost & Found Grief Center
Lost & Found Grief Center consolidated operations Oct. 28 in a move to 1555 S. Glenstone Ave. Following a $2.3 million capital campaign, the nonprofit bought and renovated the 9,000-square-foot building, previously offices for Mercy and Jones & Co. Realtors, said Mehleena Maigi, Lost & Found’s marketing and events coordinator. With seven staff members and seven part-time coordinators, the center provides grief support at no charge, for children, young adults and families dealing with the loss of loved ones. Now with double the space, Executive Director Karen Scott has said the expansion allows Lost & Found to add services for those dealing with terminal illness. Founded in 2001, Lost & Found works with families in 20 southwest Missouri counties. Hours: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 865-9998.  Web: LostAndFoundOzarks.com

Ascent Direct Primary Care LLC
Ascent Direct Primary Care opened Nov. 2 at 413 N. McCroskey St., Ste. 2, in Nixa. Dr. Matthew Green, owner and medical director, signed a three-year lease for 1,860 square feet with WHRP LLC. Green, who is certified in family medicine, practiced with CoxHealth for 10 years, including stints in Monett and Aurora. Through its $40 monthly individual membership plan, the health center is built on more doctor-patient interaction and a direct financial relationship with the doctor. Ascent Direct Primary Care does not accept insurance but works with health savings accounts and flex spending plans. Member office visits are $20, and nonmembers pay $64 per visit.
