CoxHealth Republic
CoxHealth Republic, the latest “super clinic” in the health care system, opened to patients Oct. 4. The $5 million, 15,000-square-foot walk-in clinic is at 3203 E. Old Stone Road, just off Highway 60. CoxHealth spokesperson Kaitlyn McConnell said it replaced another clinic in Republic at 820 E. Illinois Ave., which CoxHealth has owned since 1997. She said plans for that building, are still being determined. CoxHealth Republic offers primary care, physical therapy, and on-site radiology and lab services. St. Louis-based KCI Construction Co. was the general contractor and H Design Group LLC and BSA LifeStructures Inc. served as architects. McConnell said Katrina Flood leads the clinic’s 25 employees. CoxHealth Republic is part of $37 million in clinic investments in the area, including the “super clinic” underway at Battlefield Road and U.S. Highway 65 in Springfield. Locations in Nixa and Ozark opened in the last year.

The Jerk Spot
Jamaican eatery The Jerk Spot debuted in Branson on Oct. 15 at 607 Highway 165, Ste. 6, in Dogwood Plaza. Cavene Crosdale co-owns the restaurant with boyfriend Durront McGann, and the couple signed a two-year lease for $1,250 per month with Windfield Real Estate LLC. Crosdale estimated startup costs were $150,000. Crosdale said she and McGann are natives of Jamaica and have a combined 10 years of experience working in Branson restaurants, including Ruby Tuesday and Starvin’ Marvin’s. She arrived in Branson on a work visa in 2011, and The Jerk Spot is their first ownership venture. The 1,000-square-foot eatery employs eight, and its menu includes salads, pastas, soups and entrees, such as jerk chicken, curry goat and oxtail, according to its website. It also serves D&G Jamaican sodas in flavors including ginger beer and kola champagne. Lunch and dinner entree prices range $8-$22.50.

Flourish Family Doulas
A 4-year-old organization that provides doula care to families moved into its first office space May 6 at 1136 W. Battlefield Road. Flourish Family Doulas LLC previously was home based, said Emily Venturella, office manager. She declined to disclose lease information or relocation costs. Venturella said owner Kaylen King founded the business to fill a need in the community for more perinatal services. Organization offerings include birth and postpartum doula services, childbirth education classes, lactation consultation, babywearing guidance and yoga classes. The move has allowed for an expansion of services, she said, noting six employees work in the roughly 2,200-square-foot space. Venturella said prior to the move yoga classes were held privately in client homes, while Loehr Health Center hosted sessions for childbirth education
