Posted online

The former Shoney's at 853 N. Glenstone Ave. has been converted into Copper Station, an American restaurant run by Chinese cuisine guru Michael Ngo (pictured). The new restaurant, Ngo's first venture in American food, opened Aug. 2. Ngo invested $370,000 to renovate the space into a train station theme. "The look inside is totally different," he said. Copper Station seats 200 people and has a banquet room for 40 guests. It is open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Ngo family, in the restaurant business since 1983, owns six Chinese dining establishments in Springfield.

Renner Supply Co. moved to 3252 N. Glenstone Ave., Ste. B-100. The company modifies and sells garage doors manufactured by its parent company Delden Manufacturing of Kansas City. Manager Mike George said the new facility is 20,000 square feet of plant and office space. It is open 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

National Cleaners opened for business Sept. 3 at 3018 S. National Ave. Owner Lai Nguyen moved here from California to open the dry cleaner. Nguyen said he uses a hydrocarbon solvent for an odor-free dry cleaning. National Cleaners offers a full line of dry-cleaning services including the cleaning of leather and suede products. It is open 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon-5 p.m. on Sunday. There are four employees.

The Cottage House antique and gift shop is open at 737 U.S. Highway 60 East, Republic. Owner Rhonda Ralston opened the shop Aug. 8 in a 1940s-built house. Ralston is a retired Republic elementary school counselor. Her store carries antique furniture and gifts ranging from perfume, art, candles and cards to clocks, dishes and jewelry, Ralston said. The Cottage House is open 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday.
