Copper Rock Healthcare
The first of a three-phase senior health care community in Rogersville is in operation with the opening of skilled nursing facility Copper Rock Healthcare. Willow Springs-based Willow Health Care Inc. operates the 90-bed, 56,000-square-foot center at 712 Copper Rock Drive. The facility received its license Oct. 3 from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, said Willow Health Care CEO Shirley Alter. She said the $12 million first phase is part of a $23 million development dubbed Copper Rock Village. Groundbreaking for The Lodge at Copper Rock, a 60-bed assisted-living center, is planned for 2020, Alter said. The third phase is for independent-housing apartments. Heather Brown is administrator at Copper Rock Healthcare, which employs around 50. The skilled facility also provides long-term care and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. Cafe Basilico
Cafe Basilico opened Aug. 26 at 306 E. Commercial St., as Sisters in Thyme LLC pivoted to a wholesale operation. The Italian eatery took over the 1,500-square-foot space occupied by the Sisters in Thyme cafe and bakery, which moved to the mezzanine level of the building. Martha Cooper, who owns both ventures and the building with business partner Gina Cooper, said Italian food is her passion. Sisters in Thyme had operated in the space since 2011, but she said special orders and wholesale for gluten-free options took off, resulting in the switch. Martha Cooper said they invested roughly $4,000 for signage, painting and decor in the new cafe. Menu options include sandwiches and paninis served at lunch, priced at $8-$11, along with such entrees as broccoli chicken alfredo, tortellini carbonara and Italian torte, $10-$12.
