Dacy Mulcahy purchased the vacant building last year for an undisclosed amount from Jeff Schrag, owner of Mother’s Brewing Co. across the street. Dacy Mulcahy, a licensed esthetician, also operates D’s Wax Factory in the 1,000-square-foot building. Ryan Mulcahy’s barber services include a $10 beard trim, a $22 men’s haircut and a $35 five-towel hot shave. The Mulcahys, who renovated the space for an undisclosed amount, are the only employees, but they plan to add two barbers and an esthetician. A division of Florida-based Phillips Capital Partners, the recently formed media company now owns the Bolivar Herald-Free Press, Buffalo Reflex, Christian County Headliner News, Cedar County Republican, Nixa Xpress and The Marshfield Mail, as well as two publications in Arkansas. CPI began seeking a buyer for its Neighbor News newspapers and Nowata Printing about four months ago. Terms of the deal, negotiated by Santa Fe, N.M.-based Dirks, Van Essen & Murray, were not disclosed. The Phillips family has been involved in the newspaper industry since the 1970s, owning publications in Mountain Home, Yellville, Berryville and Eureka Springs, Ark., as well as Nevada, Marshall and Maryville in Missouri.
