Commerce Bank
One bank branch for Kansas City-based Commerce Bancshares Inc. (Nasdaq: CBSH) replaced another with the Sept. 15 opening of a new banking center at 2770 W. Republic Road. The newly constructed Commerce Bank building is on the same property as its previously existing location. Jenny Stanley, senior marketing strategist for Commerce Bank, said the former bank branch was demolished soon after the new one opened. Crossland Construction Co. Inc. was general contractor for the project, with Esterly Schneider & Associates Inc. as architect, she said, declining to disclose startup costs. Stanley said the 2,500-square-foot branch is one of four in the Queen City for Commerce Bank, which has 11 locations in the Springfield area. Angela Maples is manager of the Republic Road branch, Stanley said, adding the building is more modern and efficiently designed than the previous location. Aside from offering 24/7 ATM access, real estate lending for consumers and commercial companies, she said other branch features include private consulting areas.

Republic City Hall
Staff at the new Republic City Hall completed the move to a new, consolidated home at 4221 S. Wilson’s Creek Blvd. on Dec. 19, according to Bob Ford, chief financial officer. Crossland Construction Co. Inc. was general contractor and Buxton Kubik Dodd Design Collective was the architect for the $5 million, 16,000-square-foot building. Previously, the workers who now operate out of the new City Hall were spread over four separate locations, Ford said. The former City Hall was at 213 N. Main St. Located adjacent to the city’s existing Builds building, which houses the Community Development and Public Works departments, the new structure houses 25 administrative offices, three conference rooms and council chambers that can expand to hold up to 175 people for city functions. The first City Council meeting in the facility was held Feb. 3. Departments in the new building include Administration, the City Clerk, Data Analytics, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology and Legal, according to city officials.

Tower Beauty Spa
Offering nail and aesthetician services, Tower Beauty Spa opened Dec. 4 in the Hammons Tower building, 901 E. St. Louis St. Todd Hart, co-owner of Newland Construction Group LLC, also is the owner of the spa, which he estimated had an infill cost of about $22,000 for the roughly 800-square-foot space in Ste. 103A. Rent with building owner Atrium Hospitality is about $1,100 per month, Hart said, noting the space has a reception area where guests can enjoy complimentary coffee and water while they wait. MaKenna Hart, Todd’s sister-in-law and wife of Newland Construction co-owner Joe Hart, is the manager and currently sole employee of the new business. There are two nail chairs and two pedicure chairs, and there is also a room for aesthetician services, such as facials and waxing. The spa offers GlyMed+ brand chemical peels – right for aging or textured skin, acne or hyperpigmentation, MaKenna Hart said. Among other services are lash lifts and tint, brow lamination and tint and Dermaplane facials.
