Maranda Mills opened Clue Pursuit on Feb. 12 in a stand-alone building at 1701 S. Campbell Ave. near MaMa Jean’s Natural Foods Market. Described as a live escape game, Maranda Mills said Clue Pursuit has six rooms that vary in size and difficulty, and contestants have 60 minutes to solve riddles, find clues and work together to get out of the rooms. Each room has a “game master” behind the scenes monitoring the technological and mechanical aspects of the game. Designed for three to six people per room, with the largest holding up to 12 people, Mills said rates range from $20 to $25 per person. Group rates are available for parties larger than six. A gaming trend in Europe, she said startup costs were around $150,000. The 4,000-square-foot building is leased for five years for undisclosed terms from the James W. Tharp Trust. Clue Pursuit employs four part time. Hours: 2–10 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.–midnight Saturday and noon–9 p.m. Sunday. Phone: (417) 268-9668. Web:
