City Mexican Cuisine
Scott Miller and Raul Gutierrez opened City Mexican Cuisine on July 22 at 3014 E. Sunshine St., Ste. A, in the Southern Hills Shopping Center. The 3,000-square-foot location was once home to Clary’s Fine Dining and Garbo’s Pizza, and underwent remodeling for its new tenant, Miller said, declining to disclose the cost or lease rate. The asking lease rate was $9 per square foot triple net, according to commercial real estate research firm Xceligent. Miller said the restaurant offers upscale Mexican food in an urban décor of red, black and chrome. The restaurant, seating 150 guests, includes a party area and the Chrome Lounge, which offers a daily happy hour 4–7 p.m. Miller said entrees range from $7 to $14, and dishes are named for Mexican cities, including the Zamora, with chicken, Mexican cheeses and pico de gallo in a flour tortilla, topped with queso, lettuce and signature poblano rice. He added that franchise opportunities are available. Hours: 11 a.m.–9 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Phone: (417) 693–8269.

Stockton Nursing Home
The membership of Stockton Nursing Home, at 811 Owen Mill Road in Stockton, voted unanimously in mid-July to merge with Bolivar-based Citizens Memorial Healthcare Foundation, effective Sept. 1. CMH will purchase the nursing home’s assets for $3.9 million. Kevin Costello, the home’s administrator, said the agreement required those funds be used to remodel its building or construct a new facility, adding that discussions were leaning toward a new facility to offer skilled care, with the present space devoted to assisted living. Currently the home houses 65 residents. Costello said the merger of the not-for-profits includes the transition to new accounting systems and electronic medical records, and the majority of the 114 employees will remain on staff. Business hours: 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 276–5126.

Miller Engineering PC
Travis Miller moved his structural engineering firm Aug. 1 to 3827 S. Timbercreek Ave., Ste. A, from its South Jefferson Avenue office. Miller Engineering PC, which Miller formed in 2004, employs three. Miller, who is licensed in 11 states, said current projects include the renovation and expansion of the Assemblies of God Wilson Creek campus and remodeling at Rountree Elementary School. Miller said he purchased the Timbercreek building for an undisclosed amount, noting that additional tenant space is available. Hours: 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 866–6664.
