Children's Orchard, an upscale resale/retail shop, opened for business Aug. 17 at 1278 E. Republic Road in the Twin Oaks Marketplace. It sells new and used children's clothing, toys, furniture and accessories at discounted prices. Christie Gosch (left) and husband Dan Morris own the shop, which is part of a national chain of more than 100 stores with headquarters in Ann Arbor, Mich. Gosch said the store buys merchandise by appointment and pays cash or offers store credit. It is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. on Sunday.
Joni L. Watkins, a former employee of Preferred Title of Missouri Inc., purchased the title company April 15 from Ken and Karen Ashlock. Preferred Title is at 3656 S. National Ave. Watkins has 15 year's experience in the banking and title company industries, most recently as vice president of Citizens National Bank. "I knew the owners and it was easy to approach them and discuss an arrangement of selling it to me," Watkins said. "It was a good fit for me." There are five employees and it is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Servpro of Springfield/Greene County opened June 21 in its new location, 765 N. Miller Road. The emergency service company performs home and commercial restorations after fire or water damage. Daniel Bryngelson, who co-owns the company with his brother David Bryngelson and Brian Grimm, said the new facility has an ozone room to neutralize odor and contents after fires, full-service laundry, content wash area and climate-controlled storage. The new location provides an additional 5,000 square feet for its 19 employees. Servpro of Springfield/Greene County owns the franchise rights to Greene, Webster, Christian and Taney counties. Employees are on call at all times, Bryngelson said.
