Gene Taylor Community Based Outpatient Clinic
The Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks began seeing patients Dec. 5 at the Gene Taylor Community Based Outpatient Clinic, 1850 W. Republic Road. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs chose the site in February 2016, with the facility planned for Springfield since 2015. Groundbreaking for the $26 million clinic was in October 2016 and, two years later, employees began transferring from the Mount Vernon clinic that the new building replaces. The 92,000-square-foot clinic offers primary care, mental health, dental, optometry, radiology, sleep lab, prosthetics, pulmonary, and lab and radiology services. VA officials note the clinic brings more than 9,000 veterans within a 30-minute drive of primary care services. A new VA clinic in Joplin is scheduled to open next month.
