Casper’s Chili ParlorIconic downtown diner Casper’s Chili Parlor was sold in July for an undisclosed amount by 28-year owners Dan and Belinda Harriman. The new owners are
Shawn Kraft, who owns and operates Nonna’s Italian American Café, and
Trevor Crist, CEO of Nixon & Lindstrom Insurance. Casper’s, known for its signature chili, quirky ambience and limited seating in a Quonset hut at 601 W. Walnut St., traces its roots back to 1909. Noting the Harrimans are retiring, Kraft said he has operated the restaurant since it reopened on Labor Day after its usual summer break. Though planning no changes to the four-employee restaurant, Kraft said a newly installed air conditioner unit could allow the new owners to open Casper’s during the summer. Hours: 10:30 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 866-9750.
