Bakery, cafe and espresso bar Blue Heron debuted Nov. 4 at 206 E. Commercial St. It’s the first storefront for owners James and Jennie Boosey, who have offered products for sale at Farmers Market of the Ozarks since 2015 through their Blue Heron Farm & Bakery. Their wares have included microgreens, vegetables and baked goods. James Boosey said the new venture fills 4,000 square feet formerly occupied by The Artisan’s Oven LLC, as owner Craig Crosby exited his 15-year-old business. Boosey said he and his wife bought Crosby’s equipment, declining to disclose startup costs or the renegotiated terms of their lease with landlord Dan Johnson. The Booseys are among the four-employee staff at the shop, which has a menu featuring breads, pastries, rice bowls and grab-and-go foods, such as salads, smoked salmon, hummus and seasonal vegetables. Prices range $3-$12. The shop also sells some grocery items, such as flour, eggs, milk, cheese, fruit and vegetables. Some of the products come straight from the Blue Heron farm in Marshfield, Boosey said.

417 Beautiful You
After two years working as a home-based licensed esthetician, Christy Stilfield launched 417 Beautiful You LLC, her first brick-and-mortar studio. The Rogersville venture opened Sept. 1 at 105 E. Center St., next door to the Rogersville Area Chamber of Commerce office. Startup costs were $7,000, Stilfield said, adding she’s on a one-year lease with landlord Don Waters for $240 per month. She said the 700-square-foot space formerly was occupied by Wink Studio, which moved to Highlandville. Services at 417 Beautiful You include facials, body contouring, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, microneedling and paraffin dips. Facials range $40-$65, she said. Paraffin dips range $15-$18, while chemical peels are $125 and microneedling costs $150, according to the studio’s website. Stilfield is the lone employee at the day spa, and she also works as a paramedic with CoxHealth.

Elorine’s Jamaican Kitchen
Food truck Elorine’s Jamaican Kitchen LLC relocated its home base Nov. 1 to 1348 E. Kearney St., returning to the site where it previously operated this year. Owner Elorine Gainer, a native of Jamaica who moved to Missouri in 2001, started her mobile eatery in May 2021 at the Route 66 Food Truck Park. The food truck serves authentic Jamaican cuisine, and Gainer, who is the venture’s lone employee, said she also caters for business lunches, birthdays, weddings and other events. The menu includes jerk chicken, curry chicken, oxtail, curry goat and brown stew chicken. Prices range $9-$16. Elorine’s Jamaican Chicken was stationed at Metro Eats, 2463 W. Sunshine St., this summer before moving back to Kearney Street. Gainer said her food service experience includes work at Chateau on the Lake, Olive Garden and LongHorn Steakhouse. She said cooking has always been a passion, and opening the food truck is a step toward her dream of owning a full-service restaurant.
