Debbie Hathaway added their second franchise location with a June 28 opening at 228 W. Sunshine St., in the Sunshine Corners Shopping Center across the street from Bass Pro Shops. With more than 100 varieties of jerky available, Bob Hathaway said customer favorites are honey barbeque, moonshine corn whiskey, alligator, kangaroo and boiled crawfish, a new flavor. Jerky costs $8.50 for a 4-ounce bag and $28 a pound. Other items sold include gourmet popcorn, trail mixes, dried exotic fruits, hot sauces and five flavors of deep-fried peanuts. He said the 2,000-square-foot Springfield store accepts shipments for both stores and is under a five-year lease. The Tennessee-based franchise with 16 locations charges a $35,000 franchise fee and startups range between $110,000 and $205,000, according to TheBeefJerkyOutlet.com. Based on the popular A&E TV show “Duck Dynasty,” Duck Commander-licensed items include hunting calls, Phil Robertson’s barbecue sauces and Mrs. Kay’s cooking video. The Robbs also are licensed to sell items based on the “Swamp People” TV show. Anna Robb declined to disclose terms of the Duck Commander licensing or the store’s lease. Camo Country is the second retail venture for the husband-and-wife team, who have owned and operated a Dixie Outfitters franchise store at 1819 Highway 76 for the past eight years.
