Bar Cardio LLCKristy Horton opened Bar Cardio LLC on Dec. 2 at 1730 E. Republic Road, Ste. Q. The low-impact aerobic studio targets baby boomers and fitness newcomers, said Horton, the former CEO of Millwood Golf & Racquet Club whose family sold the country club last year. Horton said the workouts are designed to improve balance and upper body strength for daily activities, slow down the effects of aging, and enhance memory, concentration and cognitive abilities. Bar Cardio also has a liquor license, she said, with a full bar in the lobby for socializing after classes. Classes, such as cardio tap and Zumba gold, are $15 apiece or $60 for five classes. Horton, who is a certified senior fitness instructor by the International Fitness Association, runs the 1,300-square-foot studio with her daughter, office manager Mikayla Mills, and a couple of part-time instructors. She invested about $60,000 in the venture, which included the installation of a full-sprung dance floor, and also is selling licenses for the concept. Hours: by appointment. Phone: (417) 554-0809. Joe Easter moved Easter Law Firm LLC on Nov. 4 to 806 W. Battlefield Road, Ste. A. A personal injury and workers’ compensation lawyer, Easter started the firm in 2008 in leased space on South Kansas Expressway. His five-year lease expired, and Easter’s NRG Free Properties LLC acquired a half-acre and spent at least $450,000 to construct the 3,500-square-foot building. The law firm occupies 2,200 square feet, Easter said, and the remaining space is available for lease at $15.75 per square foot. The structure is built with energy efficiencies, such as 5 inches of spray foam insulation in the walls, LED lighting – including in the parking lot – and solar panel curbing on the rooftop for future installation. Easter said the firm employs four, and his workload is increasing, in part, by more cases of collisions caused by cellphone and text usage while driving – about three times more the last couple of years.
