Bank of Kansas City Mortgage, a subsidiary of publicly traded Tulsa, Okla.-based BOK Financial Corp. (Nasdaq: BOKF), entered the Springfield market with a Feb. 3 branch opening at 1906 E. Battlefield St. in Georgetown Square. Branch Manager Alan Noe said the office’s services include fixed- and adjustable-rate mortgages. Bank of Kansas City Mortgage has hired seven employees, and Noe said the branch is seeking to hire additional loan officers. Noe, who has worked in Springfield mortgage businesses for 20 years, most recently as sales manager for Bank of America, also launched a Lebanon office of Bank of Kansas City Mortgage on March 1. Ross Murray, vice president of R.B. Murray Co., brokered the lease of the 5,000-square-foot Springfield office, which is owned by Nancy Jester under Properties of Distinction Inc. Carpet One Floor & Home added a Springfield store on April 3 at 1975 E. Independence St., joining more than 1,500 independently owned and operated locations throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand. The full-service flooring store was founded in 1985 by New Hampshire-based CCA Global Partners. Employing six in Springfield, store owner Patrick Foglesong said Carpet One sells carpet, hardwood, laminate, ceramic tile and vinyl floors, and it also offers installation services. Foglesong, who has worked in flooring since 1985 – including sales, installation and cleaning jobs – leases the 10,000-square-foot-space from Blue Star Investments for more than $10 per-square-foot. Zane Davidson opened mixed martial arts training company Greene County MMA LLC on April 2 at 218 N. National Ave. Greene County MMA offers several mixed martial arts classes including gaan ching do, muay thai, grappling and women’s self defense. The 1,000-square-foot-facility features punching bags, grappling mats and 14 feet of padded walls. Davidson, 45, said he has been involved with martial arts since he was 18 and previously served in the army and as a law enforcement officer. Davidson is the sole instructor and currently has 15 students. Classes for muay thai cost $35 for a one-year membership and $65 month-to-month.
