Jim Massey and Lou Gilbert, owners of L & J's barber shop in Ozark, opened All-Star Barber Shop May 15 at 3156 S. Campbell Ave. The new barbershop has a 1920s design with old-style barber stools and a black-and-white checked floor. The barbers offer haircuts and straight-razor shaves, complete with steamed towel, hot lather and aftershave. "It's a shave like your grandpa would have had," Massey said. Mailbox It opened a location June 1 at 649 W. Mt. Vernon, Nixa. The store, formerly known as Mailbox Express, is a complete parcel and print center and features shipping services through UPS, FedEx and U.S. Mail. According to store owner Chad Long, the franchise plans to open additional stores in Ozark, Branson and Republic. Mailbox It is open 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. Checkered Flag Paint and Body, a complete paint and body shop, opened for business June 2 at 706 S. Croley Blvd., Nixa. According to owner Brett Clark, the business performs restoration and minor body repair. "It is not a collision repair shop, but I do smaller insurance work that is nonstructural," Clark said. 65 Marketplace's newest tenant, Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy Store, opened for business June 23 at 1880 James River Road, Ozark. "Ozark is really growing and we're excited about becoming members of the community and growing along with it," President Drew Braum said in an announcement. Ozark's Braum's is designed much like Springfield's newest Braum's, at 2617 W. Republic Road, featuring a soda fountain era-look. The new 5,800-square-foot restaurant seats 122 and employs about 60.
