Adult Tendercare Center
Ownership of the family-held Adult Tendercare Center passed to the next generation on March 8. Brian and Stephanie Upton are the new owners of the adult day care facility, which specializes in service for people ages 18 and older with disabilities. Christopher Upton, son of the new owners, said he has served as director of the center at 3729 N. State Highway H for the past six years. The center was formerly owned by his grandmother, Clarene Shepherd. He added Shepherd took over ownership in the early 1990s from her parents, Dr. Clarence Ketch and his wife, Virginia. The Ketches founded Adult Tendercare Center in 1988. Christopher Upton declined to disclose financial terms of the ownership change, but he noted that Shepherd is now in her 70s and wanted to pass the torch to family. The 13-employee, 10,000-square-foot facility includes a full-time nurse, and all services are customized to serve each person’s needs. He added that the clients receive meals, socialization and recreation.

Medical Consulting Group
Medical Consulting Group LLC, a Springfield business that operates in the health care space, moved July 24 to a new headquarters at 2925 E. Battlefield Road. The 33,000-square-foot building was purchased by MCG in 2021. The move consolidates operations after the company previously operated in two buildings on South Ingram Mill Road. MCG earlier in July finalized a merger for undisclosed terms with Bernardino, California-based Corcoran Consulting Group. The 34-year-old MCG occupies roughly 16,000 square feet in the Battlefield Road building, with the remaining space leased, officials say. Jason Fulp, medical copywriter for MCG, said the company employs 74 of its 80-person staff in Springfield, adding other employees work in California, North Carolina and South Carolina. MCG provides consulting services to ophthalmic practices and companies, while CCG specializes in billing and coding services and handles reimbursement issues for ophthalmology and optometry practices.

Robbins Insurance Group
In a deal that closed May 1, Fayetteville, Arkansas-based G&G Independent Insurance announced the purchase of Branson company Robbins Insurance Group for undisclosed terms. Maggie Hill, marketing coordinator with G&G, said the Branson venture currently does business as Robbins Insurance Group powered by G&G Independent Insurance and continues to operate at 1649 State Highway 248. She said Robbins Insurance Group founder Blake Robbins continues to serve as a consultant to G&G during the transition period. An umbrella company called Robbins Group LLC, which includes Robbins Insurance Group, previously relocated to the Highway 248 building in 2021. Robbins maintains ownership of Robbins Financial Group, and his previous holding, Robbins Nest Media LLC, shuttered last year. He also is a co-owner in Branson restaurant Pizza by the Slice. Hill said Robbins Insurance offers G&G’s various coverages, including auto, home, life, motorcycle and commercial insurance.
