Acacia Spa LLC owners Richard and Allyson Kennedy moved the day spa June 28 to 4058 S. Lone Pine Ave. from Primrose Square Offices. Constructed this year, Richard Kennedy said additional services in the new building include relaxation areas with infrared saunas, eucalyptus steam showers, arctic rooms, a yoga studio, a courtyard and fire pit, and a larger manicure/pedicure room and boutique. Leased from LowerDeck94 LLC for 10 years at an undisclosed rate, the 9,000-square-foot building is designed with retail space on the ground floor. According to the company’s website, day passes cost $35 and monthly memberships run $99-$149. Kennedy said Acacia Spa employs 30. Maes Gelateria LLC
Cameron Maes and his father Earl opened Maes Gelateria LLC on July 8 at 334 E. Walnut St. selling 30 flavors of gelato. Cameron Maes, an entrepreneurship major at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles who attended Missouri State University last year, said the Italian-style ice cream ranges from $3.25 to $4.75 a cup. The store also offers gelato pops and floats, and soda and coffee. Maes Gelateria signed a five-year lease for the 2,000-square-foot space, previously occupied by Downtown Minuteman Press, from Nick Sibley for $2,000 per month. Cameron Maes declined to disclose startup costs. He said the business employs 12. Hours: 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday and 11–3 a.m. Thursday through Saturday. Phone: (417) 693-3871.

Light Up Springfield & Irrigation Maintenance LLC
Light Up Springfield & Irrigation Maintenance LLC started doing business on June 9 out of the Ozark home of Scott and Julie Shadwick. The business offers outdoor lighting design, landscape lighting installation and deck, dock and event lighting, as well as maintenance of residential and commercial irrigation systems, said Scott Shadwick, who was previously a traveling salesman with California-based FX Luminaire. Service calls are $55, covering travel and 30 minutes of service, and the maintenance rate is $55 per hour. Shadwick estimated startup costs at $10,000. Hours: 7 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
