3House Boutique
3House Boutique, owned and operated by Cassi McKeachnie under Penelope LLC, opened Dec. 1 at 331 S. Campbell Ave. in the former Well Fed Head bookstore building at Campbell Avenue and Walnut Street. 3House Boutique sells women’s apparel and accessories with lines from designers such as Dolce Vita and Plastic Island with items ranging between $30 and $80. McKeachnie owned a boutique in Park City, Utah, before selling it and relocating with her Springfield-native fiancé. With about 10 years of retail experience, McKeachnie established a roughly $150,000 line of credit to cover startup costs and has applied the same practices used in Utah to 3House. Hours: 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Phone: (417) 831-0775.

The Bodysmith LLC
Studio One employee Shauna Smith bought the 317 E. Walnut St. Pilates center and reopened it Jan. 4 as The Bodysmith. Smith, who worked at Studio One since 2001, applied personal savings to purchase the studio for $50,000 from Chyrel Love Miller. The Bodysmith offers Pilates, yoga, hi-ki, massage services and kettle bells, an eastern European form of weight training. Group classes start at $15 hourly, and private lessons are $55 hourly. Pilates training is a core conditioning system that strengthens abdominal and back muscles, improving students’ range of motion and flexibility, Smith said. The studio’s nine instructors are Stott Pilates-certified, and the studio can certify trainers, usually in about one year. Hours: 6:30 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Phone: (417) 865-0500.

Natasha Lopez Photography
Photographer Natasha Lopez started her own business Oct. 1 from her Springfield home. Natasha Lopez Photography specializes in wedding and lifestyle photography on location. She invested around $10,000 in personal savings to upgrade equipment she owned and establish a Web site, www.natashalopezphoto.com. The majority of her business comes from couples and engagement shoots, which cost $150 for a two-hour session and include two locations, up to three wardrobe changes, 50 edited photos and a disc suitable for online use. The package also requires the purchase of high-resolution photos on disc or print. Wedding shoots range from $1,200 to $2,600. Lopez graduated from Missouri State University in fall 2009 with a bachelor’s in fine arts. Hours: by appointment. Phone: (417) 225-0203.
